Interview With Screamerclauz

THERE ARE NO SFW LINKS IN THIS POST.
AT ALL.
FAIR WARNING.

A few of you might have seen the post I did about buying a copy of Ritual Abuse by Screamerclauz. A few day ago he posted a music video (WATCH THIS, BUT I CAN'T POST IT) he had made for Butchers Harem on his Facebook page. He was talking to a few people (including me) on the comments in the video, I'm friends with him on Facebook so I figured why the hell not? I asked if he'd do a short interview. I get tired of seeing the same old interview questions in every interview- so I asked him the kind of shit I always wonder about musicians. Here's the interview!

D: What sort of music did you listen to as a kid?

SC: My first real musical obsession was the band "Green Jelly" their "Three Little Pigs" track came out when I was like 9 and lost my shit. Especially since they had a claymation video that was circulating at the time and I was obsessed with animation, and this was the first time I saw something animated that wasn't aimed specifically at kids. In my middle school years I got really into Nine Inch Nails which lead me to more industrialy kind of stuff, like Ministry, Skinny Puppy, Marilyn Manson, Revolting Cocks, etc. In my high school years I was super into GWAR. I remember I used to take a bus to Philly alone and go to their shows when I was 16 years old. ICP was a big thing for me in those days too.

In his defense, this is a bitchin' song.

D: When did you realize you wanted to make music, and have you always made the same genre you do today?

SC: When I was a kid my dream was to be a singer in an industrial/metal band. My friend Stino and I, who lived across the street, used to throw shows in my moms living room when we were like 12 or 13 years old. He played guitar and I would "sing". Only 3 people would usually come (and 2 of them were probably already there for other reasons) and they would usually just be confused. It wasn't long before I realized that I couldn't sing or remember lyrics. When I was around 15 I discovered Fruity Loops and started making beats, I've used that program ever since.

D: What would you consider the best starting point for someone interested in your music?

SC: These are the tracks that seem to be the most popular: Kill You & Fuck You, Girls Like To Be Cut, Grandpa, Animal Crackers, 28 Days Later, and Bloody Underwear. The album I'm most proud of is Ritual Abuse, but I've gotten mixed reviews on it. People seem to think its too slow, but I think its the creepiest. Which is probably why I like it the most.

D: What other artists, regardless of genre, would you recommend?

SC: Well recently my ipod convert chord in my car broke so I had to switch back to CDs because I'm too lazy/cheap to guy a new one. So here are some artists I have in my car currently:
Cage, Death Grips, Butchers Harem, Fantomas, Earl Sweatshirt, The newer Swans album, Flaming Lips (the newer weirder shit), Tom Waits, Atmosphere, an old DJ Tron mixtape (un)lie v1, and a couple heavy dubstep mixes by my friend Atroa.

Some other hardcore/speedcore guys I like are Hellz Army, Cyberdemon, Delta 9, DJ Tron, DJ Plague, Passenger Of Shit, Nasenbluten, etc.

Sometimes I just drive around and let Emily Pukis sing me Jesus Christ Superstar. So yeah get some of that stuff, or steal it out of my car if you want to be a dick about it!

D: What would you say the biggest challenge an artist has to overcome in the music world?

SC: Making money I guess, or at least I haven't found a way yet haha. But I just signed a one album deal with The Unearthed Music Group, so hopefully that will pay off!

D: Would we find any music you'd be embarrassed about if we perused the contents of your music device of choice? If so- what is it?

SC: I don't really like anything "good" the begin with, so I'm not really embarrassed about it haha but I do have a playlist on my ipod called "The Shame Collection" which consists of the
following tracks:

50 Cent - Down On Me
Madonna - Hung Up
Katy Perry - I Kissed A Girl
Fugees - Killing Me Softly
Meat Loaf - Paradise By The Dashboard Light
Missy Elliott - The Rain
Justin Timberlake - Sexyback
Mariah Carey - Touch My Body
Kary Perry - Ur So Gay
4 Non Blondes - What's Up
What You Waiting For - Gwen Stefani
Womanizer - Britney Spears
Missy Elliot - Work it
Bruno Mars - Liquor Store Blues
The Cranberries - Zombie

I should be drug out in the street and shot.
