Sell Your Body To The Night

So, the poll ended and it seems you guys want more rock music. I listen to so much music I'm not even sure what "rock" is any more. So, without further ado I bring you a band that described themselves on their Myspace (lolwut) as "The best bits of The Rolling Stones mixed with the best bits of Black Flag, but composed by Shostakovich, Stalin's in-house composer." (I personally just think they sound damned awesome.)
TURBONEGRO
I've been told many times I look like the lead singer. Especially with my shirt off.

Fun story about Turbonegro- when the band was formed they had two ideas for a name "Turbonegro" and "Nazipenis." They decided on Turbonegro because they were told that they couldn't sell records with a name like Nazipenis. Apparently the name Turbonegro was one of the options because one of the members saw it spray painted on a wall in a subway tunnel.

These names have lead to controversy for having a racist name, but many of the bands ideals have to do with tearing down the nationalism and racism that's prevalent in their home country of Norway.

And so... my personal favorite Turbonegro song.

  1. I fully expected not to like them, but I listened and what the heck!? I've heard way worse on the radio

  3. I was jamming to it. Seems like the perfect song for a kegger.

  4. No offence to them, but I've listened to Black Flag for a loooong time and I don't get too much resemblance of "the best" of Black Flag. Thats just my heavily biased opinion, though there is a little punk influence I'd say, but just not "the best" of Black Flag there

  5. You should also talk about shoegaze. :)

  6. Interesting band - I think I may have to check out more of their tracks. I am slowly finding myself listening to more rock after years of electronic, hiphop and polka.

  7. You can't sell as NaziPenis, but TurboNegro is fine? How weird. It would be the opposite in America.

  8. The only reason I've heard of this band is because of Viva La Bam. Decent music :)

  9. I love when bands give themselves offending names :D
There's a german band called "Die Arschgefickten Gummizofen".

  11. The funny thing is that there's a Turbonegro tribute band that IS called Nazipenis, and they're quite popular.
