Montt Mardie is a Swedish musician whose most recognizable work is his beautiful piano covers of American pop songs. My personal favorite is his cover of Rihanna's "Umbrella."
I am posting this, of course, in response to the internet's war on SOPA. I am with you, comrades. The fact of the matter is that at this point in time there are many people (myself included) who would call the internet their nationality. It is our heritage, and will be a part of our lives for years to come. A decade from now Anonymous will be in our world history textbooks.
Love starts on the internet.
Scattered families keep in touch with each other on the internet.
(Notice my mother criticizing my language.)
Our political discourse now takes place online.
If nothing else can prove to you that the internet is one united nation... no, a family it's that we have ALL taken up arms against SOPA. Why? Because when you look at the internet the way I look at it- like a race, we are the people of the internet. We are Google, we are Facebook, we are The Pirate Bay, we are Blogspot. We are a nation of people with no divisions based on race, belief, or color of skin. We are one unified army of people with full faith in the internet to bring us together.
The internet made the world tiny. I could open Skype right now and talk to someone on the other side of the world, see their face, share in their tears, laugh with them. We're thousands of miles apart and we are one. The internet has unified mankind.
We can't give one inch on this. We cannot allow people to censor the internet. There is no excuse. If we allow our governments to destroy the internet it is like standing idly by while a genocide occurs in front of you. Destroy SOPA. Destroy PIPA. Call your congressmen. DO NOT STOP. DO NOT LET UP.
WE ARE NOT JUST NERDS ON THE INTERNET. WE ARE A RACE, WE ARE A NATION, WE ARE A FAMILY.
